Hi everyone, another big day in Hue and last day too. Tomorrow we are of to Hoi An. Today we booked a private car to drive us to Hoi An as its a 4 hour drive and probably the best way to travel, it only cost us $55 US dollars and we are over train travel.
We were up early again today, our body clocks are still on Queensland time (3 hours ahead of Vietnam). Went down for breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was pretty lame as far as food, still haven't been able to get a decent coffee or Latte. Rick and I decided to walk across the river to the Ancient City. We weren't out of the hotel door 5 seconds and we had Cyclo drivers in our face wanting to bike us somewhere. We had a lady walk all the way along the river till we got to the bridge trying to sell us a boat ride on the Perfume River. Its never ending in Vietnam with touts trying to sell you something or rip you off.
We crossed the bridge into the Ancient City and low and behold Rick spies a freakin KFC, fair dinkum he can sniff KFC out doesn't matter where we are. We had only just had breakfast so we didn't stop to eat, thank god. We walked for miles around the Ancient City and the whole time we had Cyclo drivers annoying us and pissing us off, they just don't take no for an answer no matter how rude you get with them. It was hot and humid and after walking for hours decided we had enough and headed back to the hotel, couldn't even be bothered going into the Forbidden City. Veged out in the hotel in the cool air conditioning for the arvo. It rained again early tonight but decided to go for a walk to KFC for dinner. Coming back we got lost and walked for nearly 3 hours trying to find our way back across the river to the hotel.. Fark our feet were filthy and sore, no more walking, enough is enough! We got back to the hotel at 9.45pm. I like Hue its a big and lively city but Vietnam really needs to learn how to treat tourists and they certainly need to learn to speak English or at least have signs and maps written in English so tourists can find there way around, its not like you can ask someone either. Same as this afternoon Rick went downstairs to ask for some soap for our bathroom and the reception guy came up to the room and bought up a Se curity Safe for us to put our valuables in, we wanted Soap duh! which we eventually got. Rant over!
Anyway it will be nice to get to Hoi An tomorrow and kick back for a couple of days, I told Rick no more walking it will be a motor scooter from here on.
Well we are both buggered and sore feet so hitting the fart sack. Some photos on here of Hue. Until tomorrow!
